Dent Consultancy now employing cats

Posted by Adrian

As a branding and marketing consultancy, we take our own marketing pretty seriously. So much so that we recently conducted some research amongst both current and potential clients to see how we could improve our act.

One of the questions we asked was “If the Dent Consultancy was an animal, what kind of animal would it be?” There were some interesting answers.

We paid one client to say “dolphin” (you know, sleek, quick, agile, intelligent, loving), but forgot she was on holiday when we did the research.

When the results came in, we were pleased not to be compared to elephants or butterflies, not sure what to make of penguin and bat, but reasonably comfortable with the final verdict – cat.

We initially thought the respondents must have meant cheetah, but on closer examination of the findings it was just a cat.

Oh well, fair enough. The clients seemed to like the idea of cats, which was good enough for us. Research without action is like underpants without trousers. So we immediately employed a cat. Stanley is the first cat we have employed but settled in immediately.

Since he started, Stanley has rather taken us by surprise. He is superb with a mouse and is so fond of his PC that sometimes it is hard to get him off it.

He is also great at new business and loves nothing more than chasing leads. In the office we often talk of how we are just a whisker away from a new piece of business.

You never know what to expect with a trainee, but so far so good. The client reaction has been great. As one said “It’s brought out the animal in you.”
